Two people, including a businessman, were kidnapped in Patuakhali. Police have arrested two youths on charges of demanding a ransom of Tk 20 lakh. The two abductees were also rescued from the BSCIC Industrial Area of ​​the city. Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Zahid gave this information at a press conference in front of the Patuakhali Police Superintendent's office at 3 pm on Monday.


The arrested persons are Mahamudul Hasan (27), a resident of the Boro Chowrasta area of ​​Patuakhali Municipality, and Md. Ali Azim (30), a resident of the Town Jainkathi area.


Yesterday, Sunday, at around 2:30 pm, the two kidnapped fish trader Md. Amirul Islam (43) and his cousin, local surveyor Md. Quddus Dhali, from in front of a hotel in the Patuakhali Judge Court area. Later, they demanded a ransom of Tk 20 lakh from their relatives over the phone. When the matter was reported to the police at around 6:30 pm, the two abducted persons and two others involved in the kidnapping were arrested from the BSCIC Industrial Area of ​​the city at around 9:30 pm that day with the help of information technology. An auto-rickshaw and two motorcycles used in the kidnapping were seized at that time. During the initial interrogation, the accused confessed to kidnapping and demanding ransom and planning to kill them if the ransom was not received.
