Donald Trump made threats to fire FBI Director Christopher Wray after he took office. Christopher Wray, however, denied Trump that chance. Before Trump takes the oath of office as the country's next president next month, he promised to step down.
Yesterday, during an internal FBI meeting, Christopher Wray made his announcement. According to Christopher Wray, he thought about it for weeks before making the choice.
Trump has already declared that Kash Patel is his first pick to lead the FBI.
Trump also had a soft spot for the present director of the FBI. Christopher Wray was named FBI director by Trump in 2017 and would serve for ten years. The FBI, under the leadership of Christopher Wray, looked into Trump after his term ended.
"I have made the decision to serve until the end of the current administration in January and then resign," Christopher Wray stated during a meeting of the FBI on Wednesday. For myself, I made the proper choice. He additionally stated, "The application of values and ethics is very important in the way we work."

A standing ovation was given to Christopher Wray after he finished speaking, an official told the AP. The official added that some in the audience were in tears.
Trump also fired Christopher Wray's predecessor, James Comey, who had come under Trump's wrath during the 2016 presidential election over his investigation into Russian ties to the Trump campaign and possible Russian interference in the election.
