Trump has already declared that Kash Patel is his first pick to lead the FBI.

Trump also had a soft spot for the present director of the FBI. Christopher Wray was named FBI director by Trump in 2017 and would serve for ten years. The FBI, under the leadership of Christopher Wray, looked into Trump after his term ended.

"I have made the decision to serve until the end of the current administration in January and then resign," Christopher Wray stated during a meeting of the FBI on Wednesday. Trump also fired Christopher Wray's predecessor, James Comey, who had come under Trump's wrath during the 2016 presidential election over his investigation into Russian ties to the Trump campaign and possible Russian interference in the election.
